Most people want to see results fast when they began their workout routines. So often they add running or jogging to their workout without considering if that’s truly the best way to lose weight for them. Everyone is different and so is their body. While strenuous exercise like running and jogging may work for some at the start of their workout routines, it may not be the smartest way to go for others.
I remind my clients that you have to crawl before you can walk. It sounds simple enough, but when it comes to exercise many people want to take off running like they are in an Olympic sprint race. They don’t think about building endurance and generally pucker out in just a few minutes in frustration. That’s not the smart way to go about it.
Yes, jogging and running burn calories in less time, but if you are not physically fit to begin with it may be wiser to be the tortoise not the hare in your initial workout routines. Gradually working up to where you can go the distance may be best for you that are just starting out, like my Facebook buddy, Trell Oliver.
Trell was in a rush like many to slim down. Jogging seemed to be the quickest way to reach his fitness goals, but I advised him to go about it differently. And as you can see to the left, he says my tips worked for him. Working his way up to full out jogging by walking first, then doing intervals of both helped him lose over 20 lbs.
